Eng. Adel Selim

Eng. Adel Selim is the Vice President of the Egyptian Wheelchair Basketball Federation and a distinguished businessman with an extensive background in engineering and management. He is the Founder and Chairman of Askalab Engineering Consultancy, a company that, over the past five years, has successfully executed numerous major engineering projects in the fields of soil transport, quarries, mining, and road construction across Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa.

Before establishing Askalab, Selim served as Executive Director and Authorized Agent for Caterpillar Equipment in Egypt for 27 years, followed by years of leadership in Saudi Arabia, Spain, and Portugal. During his tenure, he oversaw vast operations that spanned up to 18 product categories, managing contracts worth more than $430 million annually, which positioned Caterpillar among the top-performing entities in highly competitive markets.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Adel Selim is deeply involved in sports and community development. He is a founding member of the Egyptian Wheelchair Basketball Federation, where he has played a pivotal role in drafting the federation’s strategies, supporting junior development, and fostering pathways for national teams. An athlete himself, Selim has a black belt in Taekwondo and was a prominent basketball player with Al-Jazeera Club and Egypt’s national team, contributing to multiple championships.

In addition, Selim is a committed advocate for Paralympic sports. He played a central role in organizing and supporting Egypt’s participation in international wheelchair basketball events, including the 2021–2023 African and World Championships. His leadership and passion continue to shape the future of wheelchair basketball in Egypt, aiming to elevate the game and nurture a new generation of champions.
