Egyptian Wheelchair Basketball Federation
The establishment of the Egyptian Wheelchair Basketball Federation represents a new milestone in the empowerment and inclusion of people with disabilities in sports. This achievement reflects the unwavering vision and directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who has consistently emphasized the importance of integrating persons with disabilities into all aspects of public life, and ensuring their right to participate, excel, and shine on both national and international platforms.
Guided by this vision, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, under the leadership of Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, has played a pivotal role in bringing this federation to life. His Excellency Dr. Sobhy, with the support of his team, has worked tirelessly to expand opportunities for athletes with disabilities across Egypt.
By virtue of Ministerial Decree No. 153 of 2025, issued on January 29, 2025, the Egyptian Wheelchair Basketball Federation was formally inaugurated, in accordance with the provisions of the Sports Law No. 71 of 2017. This historic decision places Egypt among the nations that officially recognize and support wheelchair basketball as a structured competitive sport, granting athletes the institutional backing they deserve.
The Federation is committed to fostering a new era of athletic excellence, inclusivity, and representation for persons with disabilities, ensuring that Egyptian wheelchair basketball takes its rightful place on the regional and international stage.
