May ZeinElDein is celebrated for her pioneering role in advocating for the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities in Egypt and beyond. As the Founder and President of Alhassan Foundation for Differently Abled Inclusion, she has been a relentless force for change, transforming both perception and policy. Under her leadership, the foundation was recognized in 2019 as one of the top 50 organizations worldwide enabling people with disabilities to live independently, earning her the privilege of representing Egypt at the United Nations in Vienna. Her innovative work led to the official registration of the slogan “Differently Abled” in 2013, a term now widely adopted across presidential and governmental platforms in Egypt.
ZeinElDein’s influence extends far beyond her foundation. She is the President of the newly established Egyptian Wheelchair Basketball Federation, the Head of the Northern Region Chairperson at Wheelchair Basketball Africa, and the Head of Development at the Arab Wheelchair Basketball Federation, where she plays a central role in shaping the growth of the sport across the continent and the Arab world. She is also a distinguished member of the Egyptian National Council for Motherhood and Childhood, contributing her expertise to national policies that promote inclusion and empowerment.
With a strong background in strategic planning and corporate development, ZeinElDein has served in leadership roles at several multinational companies. Her dedication to accessibility and inclusion has taken her across the globe, receiving specialized training in Germany, Japan, the UK, and Austria. She now serves as a consultant for inclusive practices in top-tier banks, universities, and international institutions. In 2021, her achievements were recognized with the “Champion of Change” award, presented by the Canadian Ambassador to Egypt and Minister of International Cooperation Dr. Rania Al-Mashat. Earlier, in 2017, she was honored by former Minister of Solidarity Dr. Ghada Wali for her exceptional contributions to Egypt’s social development.
Beyond advocacy, May ZeinElDein’s impact on Paralympic sports is profound. As Head of Alhassan Paralympic Academy, she has overseen teams that have earned over 300 medals in national and international competitions over the past five years. A former national basketball player herself, her passion for athletics has been instrumental in building inclusive sporting environments across Egypt. Fluent in several languages and fueled by a deep sense of civic duty, May ZeinElDein remains one of Egypt’s most influential voices in the field of disability inclusion.
