International Referee

Mahmoud Abdel Aziz is an international referee and a distinguished member of the Egyptian Wheelchair Basketball Federation. He began his professional career in the field of medical supplies in 2000, later advancing to become Sales Department Manager in 2018. Alongside his professional career, his passion for wheelchair basketball led him to obtain his international refereeing license in 2007, marking the start of an impressive journey in both national and international arenas.

Throughout his career, Abdel Aziz has officiated in numerous prestigious tournaments across Africa and the world. His early contributions include refereeing at the 2007 Africa Championship in Algeria and the Beijing Qualifier in Morocco the same year. In 2008, he participated in the U23 World Championship Qualifiers in South Africa, followed by the 2011 World Championship Qualifiers in Johannesburg. His global footprint extended further with his participation in the 2017 World Championship in Italy.

Between 2013 and 2014, Abdel Aziz played a key role in several qualifying events, including the U23 World Championship Qualifiers in Turkey, the 2013 Qualifiers in Tunisia, and the 2014 Qualifiers in Dubai. He also officiated at the 2014 Arab Championship, the 2014 and 2015 GCC Championships in the UAE, and the World Championships in 2014, 2015, and 2018. His experience also includes the 2015 Paralympic Games Qualifiers in Japan. On the continental level, he has been a consistent figure at IWBF Africa events, participating in the 2007, 2011, 2013, 2017, and 2019 editions.

Beyond the court, Abdel Aziz has contributed significantly to the administrative and organizational side of the sport. He has served as a member of the Competitions Committee and the Referees Committee within the Egyptian Wheelchair Basketball Federation. In 2013, he spearheaded the establishment of the Supreme Referees Committee, a landmark step aimed at elevating the standards of officiating in Egypt.

Through his dual roles as both referee and administrator, Mahmoud Abdel Aziz has established himself as a key figure in the development of wheelchair basketball, combining extensive international experience with a commitment to advancing the sport at home and abroad.
